HOUSE AT WHITE ROCK LAKE
DALLAS, TEXAS | 5,500 SQFT | COMPLETED IN 2007
This is the first ground-up house for this neighborhood in fifty years. At 5,524 square feet, it is more than double the average home in the area. Challenging the current paradigm of residential tear-downs, the client championed the use of inexpensive, intelligently chosen materials, while delivering an energy efficient, discreetly modern home.
The exterior building envelope is rated at R-60, clad in painted fiber cement siding. Native plants and grasses are used to soften the edge between the house and the neighborhood. Within the tree canopy, the third floor deck affords privacy while allowing observation of the nearby lake and park. At ground level, a screened porch in the back provides a retreat within the contemplative setting of the garden.
