CUNNINGHAM ARCHITECTS EXHIBIT

THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT ARLINGTON

ARLINGTON, TEXAS | 400 SQFT | COMPLETION DATE: 1987

AIA DALLAS HONOR AWARD 1987

TSA HONOR AWARD 1989

We constructed this temporary exhibit of our work at the University of Texas at Arlington with a $1500 budget.  We built the trusses off-site and assembled the installation with drywall screws, aircraft cable, staples and string.  Light, movement, surprise, structure, craft and scale were some of the important aspects of architecture we aimed to address.

“The resulting display won the admiration of the design awards jury, not just for its trash-tech exuberance but for the way both the structure and the process of the exhibit embodied the elements of architecture that the designers wanted to highlight in their work.”
