LIBRARY AND ART CENTER AT CISTERCIAN PREPARATORY SCHOOL

IRVING, TEXAS | 9,000 SQFT | COMPLETED IN 1998

The library was built at a scale similar to that of the surrounding O’Neil Ford buildings in order to have a minimal impact on the Cistercian Monastery. Like the existing buildings, the library has a simple massing and is built of straightforward materials including Mexican brick and exposed laminated wood beams. The different materials animate the main façade and provide the study areas with an abundance of natural light. A cantilevered concrete canopy punctures the glass wall and continues as a covered walk that leads to the renovated art building.
